JOB DESTRUCTION NEWSLETTER

www.ZaZona.com

Rachel Konrad wrote this request for the newsletter. Konrad is
sensitive to the fact that some people can't risk their jobs by going
public. That should give more people the confidence to tell their
stories.

I'm writing stories for The Associated Press about the offshore
outsourcing trend. You can see one story I wrote a few weeks ago, which
ran in dozens of newspapers and Web sites:
http://www.detnews.com/2003/technology/0307/14/technology-216290.htm

I'm writing another story on L1 visa workers. Relatively few Americans
understand that L1 visas allow U.S. based companies to import foreign
employees to get training in the United States. Often, the workers are
trained by American counterparts in similar positions, then sent back
home -- and then the American worker is laid off. This is happening in
the the worst tech sector decline in a decade. I would like to find a
few people who fit this description to help educate readers about the
L1
visa issue.

I'm sensitive to the fact that no one wants to lose their precious job
because they helped a reporter educate readers about a little known
trend that could have big consequences for the U.S. economy. Ideally I
could find people who have already lost their jobs (sadly, there are a
lot of people in this category), and will provide their names, ages and
city of residence. However, I'm willing to talk to current employees
"off the record" as a last resort. If you or someone you know is or was
training his or her foreign replacement, or if you know of and employer
that supports the trend, please drop me an e-mail or call me at the
number below. Thanks.
