I'm forwarding this invitation from RescueAmerianJobs. This is an
attempt to form working groups of activists in every major city in the
U.S. Meetings can be used for anything as long as it's on the subject
of saving American jobs - it can even be used to strengthen your own
local organizations. You can bet I will bring "Petitions to Abolish
H-1B" to the first Phoenix, Arizona meeting.

A nice feature of meetup.com is that you don't have to use your real
name to sign up and the service is free.

Be sure to bring a few Petitions if you go to a meeting. To print out a

MEETUP HOSTS HUNDREDS OF GROUPS:
Meetup hosts hundreds of groups, so be sure that you sign up for the
Rescue American Jobs group! The link is

interest to you (like the Laid Off group), but this is the only group
that deals with bringing American jobs back to Americans. Our first
meetup is August 28th.

RECRUIT FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION:
If you are involved with local activism for these issues, then please
attend these meetups and bring informational flyers for your
organization. Please use these meetups to recruit newcomers to your
organization and activities. We are a lot stronger if we add to
existing organizations' chapter than if we setup new competing
chapters!

MEDIA EXPOSURE:
Howard Dean credits much of his success to networking and exposure on
meetup.com. He gained national media attention in virtually every media
outlet when his meetup.com membership reached 50,000. If we can show a
significant number of people organizing to meet across the country for
this movement, we WILL get media attention!

SIGNUP TODAY AND RSVP LATER:
If you aren't sure if you can make the meetup, you can sign up today
and RSVP later. It's important to show the media and the world that we
do have a strong following for these issues. Every person who joins
adds to the number of people supporting these issues. There is strength
in numbers!

89 CITIES SO FAR:
This is our best opportunity to recruit newcomers, build stronger
organizations, and find new activists in new areas. We have already
gotten people signed up in 89 cities! We had such a quick growth that
Meetup.com wanted to add our organization as a Partner Organization and
featured us in their Partner Newsletter within less than a week of
starting our meetup!

YOUR CITY:
According to meetup.com, it usually takes 3 months to get enough people
together for meetups in the largest cities - even for their largest
meetup groups. Well, we already have enough people for a meetup in more
than a dozen cities! Don't be discouraged if your city only has a
couple of people. Talk at least one friend into signing up, and if
everyone does this, then every city will have a meetup!

CURRENT MEETUP MEMBERS:
If you already joined meetup.com to join another group - Be sure that
you join the Rescue American Jobs meetup group! This is important. The
Laid Off group is only there to provide comradery and emotional
support. This is the only group that specifically deals with bringing
jobs back to Americans.

The time for being an armchair activist has passed! We must organize to
educate our communities! Every day we wait is another day lost and
thousands more jobs gone!
