In 2002 the Australian Film Commission did a news documentary titled
"Diverted to Delhi". The video is about how multi-national companies go
to India to set up call centers to service the United States and
Australia. North Star College teaches students to speak English with
American and Australian dialects so that they can take jobs at
companies that have relocated to India.

This documentary was so compelling that I decided to put it online to
share it with people throughout the world that haven't seen it. It's
very interesting to see the outsourcing story from another point of
view. The in-depth reporting has a much slower pace than what we are
You can see the video by going to the following webpage:

Putting this video online isn't free, although I offer it as a public
service. Not counting the time it took me to get these files online, I
will have to pay $15 a month to keep it online. Viewing the video might
seem free when you click the link, but it costs me very real money to
deliver the video to your computer and it took me a lot of time to put
it together. I wish to thank the activist (wishes not to be named) that
spent the time and money to mail me the tape.
I may only keep this video online for a limited amount of time so you
may want to download it if you don't have the time to watch the entire
clip. My decision to remove it will be based on two factors: whether
people actually watch it and whether I can get help with the expenses
of hosting it.
If there is someone out there that thinks this video should be
available to the public your sponsorship of the video could be made
simply by donating money to ZaZona.com. Be sure to specifically tell me
that your donation is meant to keep the video online, and let me know
if I can put your name down as its sponsor.
Videos by their very nature are expensive to put online because of the
enormous sizes of the files and the large bandwidth requirements.
Videos are time-intensive to prepare and special hardware necessary to
make it all happen. To put this one hour video online I had convert the
analog video from a VHS tape to a digital file. After conversion it
took about 2 hours of computer processing time to prepare the
compressed RealVideo files. It took almost another 2 hours to upload
the files to my web server. Hopefully the slow upload is a temporary
network problem.
The web hosting service charges $5 per 50 MB of extra storage. I pay
for a server because unlike home web servers this one can handle the
bandwidth even with many simultaneous users and it has streaming media
capabilities.
This is how I am billed for putting this video online:
High Resolution File 143 MB
Low Resolution File 14 MB
Total Size 157 MB
Total Cost $15
Hey mate, enjoy the video, and don't forget your Fosters!
