Presidential candidate Bill Richardson had a recent interview on PBS. He left
no doubt that he wants to raise the H-1B cap. Of course no politician's speech
would be complete without jabbing American workers:
You know, Ray, we're a nation of immigrants. A lot of these
individuals are working in jobs that Americans don't want.
This is what Richardson says will happen if he becomes president and he gets
his way on immigration. It's quite a campaign promise:
GOV. BILL RICHARDSON:
Is that messy? Yes, it's messy.
Is it bureaucracy? Yes.
Is it going to be screwed up by
somebody in the U.S. government? Possibly.
At least he understands the need for more taxpayer's money to handle his
screwed up immigration program:
I'm just being honest. There's going to be
bureaucracy. There's going to be -- we're going to have to increase
the budget for immigration.
Here is the H-1B increase quote:
I mean, we have to raise the quotas for legal immigration, H-1B
visas, we have to have that in this country to be more
competitive.

His little ditty on immigration begins at the 12 minute mark in the 19:40
minute interview.
