On Sunday, CNN's program NEXT@CNN will feature a live debate on H-1B
between Dr. Norman Matloff and Thom Stohler. This is a LIVE show, at 5
p.m. EDT.

Sunday, Sept. 28
Also - the furor over H-1B visas. After responding to an industry
clamor to feed the tech boom by increasing the number of these
high-tech visas, the Feds have drastically cut them back. We'll hear
from an electronics industry rep who thinks that's a terrible idea, and
a professor who says high-tech industries just want cheaper imported
workers.
Those of you on this newsletter probably know about Matloff but Thom
Stohler might be a new name. Stohler is a mirror image of the ITAA's
Harris Miller. Stohler is a lobbyist for the American Electronics
Association (AeA at http://www.aeanet.org/). The ITAA lobbies for East
Coast non-vendor firms while the American
Electronics Association and TechNet are the high-dollar lobbyists for
Silicon Valley vendor firms. Matloff, with his roots at UC Davis, and
Stohler, as a high rolling lobbyist for Silicon Valley corporations,
are rivals and long time adversaries - the classic battle between an
archangel of truth and the shill on the dark-side. I expect them to
have a heated debate and hopefully Stohler will end the show with his
tail between his legs!

Stohler is similar to Harris Miller in many other ways. He is a fanatic
promoter of H-1B and despises American engineers (don't be fooled by
the AeA name because the only thing they have to do with engineers is
to destroy their careers). In the year 2000, Stohler implied that
companies don't have the time or money to invest in American workers
since they can import H-1Bs. He stated that, "it would take a massive
restructuring in the education system and a tremendous investment in
training. We don't have the people to fill those jobs."
I am including a short op-ed written by H. Stein.
(hint: read what Stein said about donations. I have spent countless
hours of research to send these newsletters out, and almost as much
time on the website. The last donation I received was 8/20/03. Please
don't send me a donation if you are unemployed, but if you are one of
the few on the mailing list that still have a job, I would appreciate
the help. If you are unemployed help me by getting more people on the
mailing list. In addition to the 3 hours I have spent on H-1B today, I
will spend much of the rest of the day digitally processing the 9/24
CNN Lou Dobbs show so that you can watch it for free, without
advertisements, at ZaZona.com)
In my mind, Norm ("Norm Matloff" and Rob
Sanchez (www.zazona.com) are the icons of educating the public (and
mentoring the likes of myself) in special visas (H-1B/L-1) abuse.
I am very excited and looking forward to this "live debate" -- this
will hopefully be like medical professionals debating the tobacco
companys that cigarette smoke can be hazardous to your health (many of
us remember chuckling at Tobacco representatives looking as in the eye
and expecting us to believe or take very seriously what they were
saying).
Norm: you are well versed in all the lies and ruses the "other side"
likes to espouse -- much success to you -- you are in our thoughts, and
for many, in our prayers! As a sign of solidarity, I think you should
quickly scratch the corner of your lip three times in a row with either
hand. As soon as you do this -- you'll know you are saying hello to
all of us and that we are all watching, smiling, and are behind you!!!!
We can tell our friends -- watch Norm will do this as a "sign". The
goal is to relax you and all of us as we watch you.
Lou Dobbs: great job again Friday evening with Exporting America. I
had just emailed an article to 125+ people talking about China and
other countries abusing workers for $0.50/hr or less and you flat out
corroborated it -- there is a tendency for people to shrug off
human-worker abuse complaints in other countries as "radical" or a
"flake" and what you do is give these truths instant credibility.
Thank you.
FOX: you're falling further and further behind... I used to watch you
exclusively and now I watch CNN most of the time -- they seem to be
more in tune with what is going on. Shepard, Neil, Sean, Greta, Linda
V., Mr. O'Reiley, Geraldo: you are being perceived as being controlled
by your corporate sponsors -- what other explanation is there for not
putting this topic on the air, like CNN does?
ALL: those who have the MSNB email contacts, can you forward this to
them?
ALL: bug FOX (they were copied on this) for their insensitivity in
covering this:
"Shep Smith", "Neil Cavuto",
"Alan Colmes", "Sean Hannity",
"Bulls And Bears", "On the Record with
Greta", "Brit Hume",
"Linda Vester", "The O'Reilly
Factor", "The Beltway Boys",
"Geraldo Rivera"
ALL: if you really want to track all this, send an email to
H1BNews@ZaZona.com and ask to subscribe. Your heart will be torn after
reading a few newsletters -- this problem is much worse than any of my
emails can possibly can convey. And if you really care, send Rob
Sanchez a donation. Speaking of Mr. Sanchez, the article below is
about H-1B/L-1 and Mr. Sanchez. It is extremely well-written and
interesting.
Regards,
H. Stein
